I was working out with a professional body building in my 20s. I'm now 37 and studied Human Nutrition at Arizona State University. I also studied to be a personal trainer. What I would like to discuss is the body God designed way of dieting. Its called ketosis.
Ketosis occurs when there is such a low amount of sugar in your blood, your lever processes fat and causes fat to become ketones. The ketones are used for energy. To enter ketosis, you are able to eat daily bread and wine, nuts, cheese, and all meat, but you should not eat more than 2 slices of bread a day nor should you eat too much protein. If you eat too much protein the body will choose to use the protein for energy rather than the fat.
If you are working out, that is ripping muscles via weight lifting, the proteins help repair the muscles, so your protein intake can necessarily be higher to grow. A fact of weight lifting that should be explained to students in grade school, is with proper protein intake, you can gain more lifting weights in 6 months than you gain during 2-5 years of lifting weight and not eating plenty of protein.
I met a man that weighed 280 lbs, bench pressed 600 pounds, and looked like he was 240 lbs to me. He told me I should eat 1.6 to 2 grams of protein per pound I way everyday I was trying to grow. Aspiring professional athletes should be taught that $1,500 to $3,000 dollars a month in addition to intense weight lifting should be invested into their career during high school, and the benefit will be that they will have the superior body while performing.
